These types of activities such as the Cityscape exhibition, in addition to national projects, serve the general vision that Egypt aims to achieve and lead to attracting more investments because it reflects an image of stability in the real estate sector that the country is witnessing.

In this article, we will take you on a tour to learn about the most important efforts that Egypt is making to achieve urban development.

Since President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi assumed his current position as President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Egypt began to adopt a strong vision with the aim of improving and raising the standard of living of Egyptian citizens. The state formulated Egypt's Vision 2030 by paying attention to three basic dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental.

As a result, in recent years, Egypt has witnessed a boom in housing and real estate projects, through which the government establishes housing projects that meet the needs of all classes of society, starting with the low and middle-income groups, as well as the upper classes.

Housing projects

Adequate housing is considered the first right of the citizen, and it is the first step in the path of upgrading the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen and improving his standard of living.

Therefore, one of the most important principles that the government began implementing years ago was the elimination of slums and the provision of suitable housing units for all those affected. Accordingly, Egypt, under the slogan "housing for all Egyptians", provides housing projects divided into three categories, as follows:

Social housing

The social housing project was established to serve citizens of the low-income class, as this type of project provides them with housing units consisting of two rooms or three rooms fully finished, and the areas range from 75 to 90 sqm.

These units are distinguished by the fact that they are offered to citizens at a cost price only, with subsidies on units of up to 25 thousand pounds. In addition, the beneficiary of the units can pay the price of the unit over up to 20 years.

Middle-class housing

The main objective of medium housing projects is to provide decent housing units with competitive prices compared to those in private projects, in addition to having the advantage of paying through a Mortgage. Medium housing units are available in two main projects, which are the Sakan Misr project and the Dar Misr project.

The spaces in the Sakan Misr project start from 106 to 118 sqm and consist of three rooms and a fully finished hall. And to serve the needs of citizens, there are commercial units under each building.

As for the Dar Misr project, the spaces range from 100 square meters to 150 square meters. The Dar Misr project provides many distinguished services: a commercial mall - a mosque - a school –landscapes - electric elevators - security and guarding - an iron fence for extra privacy.

Luxury housing

The state is offering the luxury housing project within the best locations in the new cities and the areas spaces from 100 square meters to 150 square meters. These projects are characterized as being high-end projects in terms of the services and features available, including that they are offered in the form of a compound surrounded by walls, which provides the advantage of privacy.

It is worth noting that the new phase of the housing apartments "Housing for All Egyptians 3" is now open, and you can start applying and download the conditions brochure or get it from the nearest post office.

The development of slums inside the Cairo Governorate

As we mentioned before, the vision adopted by Egypt includes many development directions, and it was necessary to solve the problem of slums in parallel with the implementation of new housing projects, as both directions serve each other.

One of the largest slum development projects is the development of the Maspero Triangle in the center of the downtown on the Nile Corniche. This area remained a great challenge for the Egyptian state. On the one hand, the area contains a group of the most important institutions, such as the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Maspero Radio and Television Building, and right next to these buildings, you find one of the largest slum areas.

Egypt cooperated with private sector companies to develop the area, and the government was responsible for the eviction process and compensating the residents with housing units outside the area. If citizens wanted to return to the Maspero area, the government built residential towers for this purpose. On the other hand, private development and investment companies are working on establishing investment projects in the region to attract investments and tourism. Among these projects are the City Edge projects:

New Cities

To reduce the overcrowded Delta and Greater Cairo, it was necessary to think about horizontal urban expansion, and this is what we are witnessing recently in the establishment of new urban cities.

New cities are created to provide spaces for the establishment of real estate and residential projects, and each city is designed in a way that makes it an integrated city that is livable without the need to move outside it or move to Cairo to obtain job opportunities.

Egypt is witnessing a series of new cities, led by the New Administrative Capital, New Alamein, New Mansoura, and New Minya.

The Line Neom Saudi City is considered one of the most dazzling projects currently. Learn more about it through this article. The Line Neom 2030 Go where the future is.

The new administrative capital

The largest national project in Egypt is the new administrative capital. The main vision of the capital aims to be a suitable destination to attract foreign investments to Egypt. Therefore, it had to be established in an integrated manner.

To relieve pressure on Cairo, work is being done to transfer all government institutions and ministries to the new capital. The projects within the new capital also vary to include residential, commercial, administrative, and medical projects.

New Alamein

New Alamein is the largest project on the Egyptian North Coast and is considered the first megacity on the coast. The new city of El Alamein has many advantages that make it a destination for permanent residence and housing for citizens. The city of El Alamein was established and all basic facilities were provided, including service and educational buildings, as well as universities, in addition to tourism and investment projects.

It is worth noting that all new cities have phases for social housing, which you can apply for through a housing campaign for all Egyptians.

Road projects

To reach the required results from all these developmental projects, it was necessary to establish and develop a network of road and bridge projects that serve all new cities and new housing projects. This is precisely what the government has done, and we have seen the projects that have been completed throughout Cairo city, as well as the roads that link the governorates to each other. Among the most important road projects that were opened:

  • The new Fouka road reduces the travel distance from Cairo to Matrouh and the coast by about two hours
  • Galala Road, which is the parallel road to Ain Sukhna - Hurghada Road
  • Development and expansion of Wadi El-Natrun Al-Alamein road to becoming 5 lanes
  • El Dabaa Axis Road, linking Cairo and El Dabaa city in Matrouh Governorate
  • The Middle Ring Road, which surrounds Cairo and connects the new cities, El Obour, El Shorouk, El Mostakbal, the Administrative Capital, 6th of October, Sheikh Zayed.
